Find a Fitness Trail
Most cities have parks with fitness trail. A fitness trail is a path for designed walking or jogging. Along the trail are stations with instructions showing you how to complete a fitness challenge. A challenge might include hanging from a bar and doing leg lifts, doing a chin-up or completing a stretching exercise. The course, which may consist of up to 20 stations, is designed to work the entire body. If you jog or walk the trail briskly, and complete each challenge, you'll burn a lot of calories - all while enjoying the beautiful fall scenery around you.
Take a Hike
Find a hiking trail in your area that has steep terrain. Hiking uphill burns up to 500 calories per hour, and if you load yourself down with a back pack and walk uphill, you'll burn even more. Hiking also works your hamstring and glute muscles, which means you'll end up with a more shapely set of thighs and buttocks. It's a great stress reliever too.
Join a Running Club
Many cities have a running club where members get together for an outdoor run a few times per week, usually on the weekend. It's a chance to run with other likeminded people while enjoying the beautiful fall weather. Call your local park service and find out what outdoor exercise classes they offer. Some city parks offer outdoor zumba classes, boot camp sessions and outdoor yoga. Sign up and enjoy the chance to get fit in the great outdoors.
