A good compromise plate between the pricier high end and the cheap big box selections. I used to like the old school clanking of steel and iron in the gym but quiet is better at home. The rubber coating appears and feels durable. Would be better if plates were cleaned during the manufacturing process before packaging. Build quality varied as some plates had nicks and minor gouges - or I was sent a few returned items - but nothing that would effect performance. I'll bang these up soon enough anyway. Will see how they hold up over time, especially the transition between the coating and sthe steel hub sleeve that slides over the barbell sleeve. Overall fit on the bar is a bit loose (using a Rogue Power Bar) so locking collars or spring clamps are a must.
Pros:Four handle design - easy and safer to lift, carry, and rack
Solid build - coating appears durable
Cons:Arrives with residue from manufacturing process
Urathane rubber odor, not as bad as some solid rubber bumper plates, does fade but may be unpleasant for a time especially indoors. However, in a garage with rubber floor mats, bumper plates, and a few spare tires lying around, these plates aren't so bad. Some have recommednded scrubbing with dish soap or other degreaser. I just wiped them down with an unscented spray cleaner and got busy llifting.
