Exercise Bikes:

Exercise bikes, like treadmills, offer a very natural and familiar form of exercise that most people enjoy performing. Though exercise bikes offer a non-weight bearing and low impact form of exercise, they still provide and excellent cardiovascular workout that really gets the heart rate elevated.

Exercise bikes come in two styles: Recumbent exercise bikes and upright exercise bikes. If space is an issue, the upright exercise bike is probably the best piece of cardio exercise equipment to place in your home gym. Its small foot print and easy mobility make it a great choice.

The recumbent exercise bike offers a more comfortable seating position, providing lots of back support along with a larger seat to sit on. Most of the exercise bikes we sell offer quiet, smooth magnetic resistance. Many of the bikes do are self powered and do not need to be plugged into an outlet. This provides the convenience of placing the exercise bike anywhere in your home gym. Like most pieces of exercise equipment, a mat is recommended to protect the surface where the bike is placed.

Stationary exercise bikes provide a safe, comfortable and highly affordable means of low-impact cardiovascular exercise. There are several factors to consider when purchasing one of these popular machines. Two of the most important factors are positioning and means of resistance.

Upright Exercise Bikes: With an upright bike, your legs are directly below your torso, as they are on a regular bicycle. On a recumbent bike, your legs are stretched out in front of you and you can lean back as you ride.

Recumbent Exercise Bikes: are easier on your back, and especially recommended for beginners and people with age or health issues. With either style, take your time adjusting the seat and pedal positions. At the fullest extension, your knee should be bent just enough to prevent locking.

Resistance can be provided by fans, belts, gears or flywheels. Most modern bikes use magnetic resistance, which is easily adjusted by the user. Since there are few moving parts and no friction (the flywheel never touches the magnets) these bikes are highly durable and easy to maintain.

At Fitnessgiant.com, we have an excellent selection of exercise bikes, both upright and recumbent. You'll be amazed at how economical this option is for your cardio fitness program. The 4600 Recumbent Bike, for example, offers magnetic resistance, adjustable arms and a multi-function electronic meter for feedback, yet costs under $300. The Conversion II offers both a recumbent bike and a rower in one piece of equipment. Visit our site and see all the other options available to you. And if we don't have exactly the machine you want, we'll get it for you.
