We received the weight set faster than expected. The quality so far is exceptional, and John made sure to follow up with us when there was an issue with the trucking company getting in touch with us. Definitely recommend.
Pros
  • Product quality
  • Customer service
Cons
  • None so far
Expensive but a lifetime investment

Cost a pretty penny to have a gym quality set at home. But definitely worth the money and wait.

When i ordered they told me 2 to 3 weeks to ship, it got delayed to 4 weeks total (they updated me regarding your) and 1 week to ship to me.
Can't complain bc all that matters is now i can lift like i used to.

If you have the financial means, it's way better than buying cheaper used iron plates from price gougers.
Plus fitness giant is easy to deal with and make customer service a priority.
Pros
  • Very high quality and durable build, they feel and look like the iron grip plates most gyms use. Minimal noise so you can lift without waking up the neighbors. Good grip so easy to lift, load, unload.
Cons
  • They come covered in a lubricant/coating that takes a lot of effort to get off, i had to spray them down with dish soap and use multiple rags to remove all of it. They smell like rubber and will need to air out. Plates are a little wider/taller than normal iron plates due to the extra rubber. Long wait, but at least they have it in stock and are honest about inventory and shipping times.
nice bar, good set of weights, rubber seems sturdy

Bought these to build home gym for COVID. Probably would have bought cheaper, non-rubberized set for now but now that I have them I like them better. Very quiet, glide on/off bar easily, stack together nicely (area between grips are recessed to fit them together), don't feel hot/cold and grip holes are reasonable to carry around. Having the 400 lb set has proved useful so I don't have to move plates around as much. Clips that come with set are also decent. Packaging comes on minipalllet. Barbell was in long tube which was damage and the end of my bar got dinged. Thankfully it doesn't effect the function so I don't care.

Fitness Giant was one of the only suppliers that showed these items in stock and I needed a set of weights for my home gym. I called to verify stock, order, and delivery information. Phone service was good and I felt reassured with my online purchase that all would go well. The plates did take about 3 weeks to ship, and tracking was provided once they were on their way. The weights showed up on a pallet, in boxes, shrink-wrapped. There was a lot of packaging waste once all was unpacked but the product was in fine condition. The rubber weights were in bags and smeared with some sort of grease - this could be what is in a mold a tthe factory so the plates pop out of a machine during manufacturing... unsure. Either way, plan to wipe down the plates, you may want to use 409 or something similar. All weight ordered was received - no issues with shape, size, edges, etc. Having the grips built into the weight plates is nice, but not necessary, and the rubber coating does cut basically all noise when using the weights on bars & machines. I would have happily purchased other iron milled weights that were =/- 2% tolerance for less money but the nation was sold out. Fitness Giant came through, the Troy weights are as expected and work very well. The Olympic Bar is also very nice. knurling on the handle is aggressive, and collars spin without issue. Longevity of the bar is pending but I believe for home use where I'll max at 300# deadlift the bar will hold up for years. Note - Made in USA wasn't a requirement at the time of purchase, and I assumed incorrectly that these were made in the US since Troy has a weight line with US in the branding. Each plate did come with a small 'Made in China' sticker on it.

Overall - a top notch supplier & product. I'm up & running and don't plan on swapping these weights or bar out for other plates or brand for any reason. If cost is too high and you can wait, there are other brands and options that you can get into for $600ish (400# of plates with a bar)
Pros
  • Look & Feel
  • Calibrated to +/- 2% of rated weight
  • Less noise
  • Easy to handle
  • Good knurling on bar
Cons
  • Cost
  • Grease on plates when received

As far as barbell sets goes the Troy set is built to last with the rubber encasement and traditional design. You can't beat a weight set that'll maintain value over years of use. Complete with new factory smell.
Pros
  • - Rubber Encased to prevent significant damage to hands, walls, etc
  • - Traditional hand grips to allow easy carrying
Cons
  • - None
