YORK applied its vast knowledge in bar design and produced perhaps the highest quality, most functional and attractive Olympic Bar of today. YORK applied its signature "split sleeve" design to each bar which replaces the outmoded bolt and sleeve assembly. This means the sleeve assembly will not loosen or detach.

Each bar has been manufactured from North American made steel. The Black Oxide International Bars are finished with a black Oxide coating & feature hard chrome split sleeves.

It is a strikingly attractive bar. The black oxide finish has an aggressive grip. York applied its signature "split sleeve" design to each bar which replaces the outmoded bolt and sleeve assembly.
  • Length: 6'
  • 30mm Grip
  • Weight: 30lbs
  • 52" Inside measurement allows for this bar to work with any olympic weight bench, power rack or squat stand

It's not as good as a 7ft 300$ bar from Rogue. But they don't offer a 6ft bar. This one is probably the best 6 ft bar you will find and it's completely rackable= get it.
Pros
  • US steel, made in Canada. The best general purpose size. Rackable. Nice price. Fully loadable.
Cons
  • Bar ends are not as nice as Rogue or American barbell.
Perfect for home use.

When I decided to start using Olympic barbells I knew a giant 7' bar would be just too big for my basement. I was fortunate to acquire Olympic plates at a garage sale and I bought the York 6' bar to go with them.

The outer ends are on bushings instead of the bearings found on higher end bars but they turn freely enough. One side is a little rougher than the other but it is not noticeable when the bar is loaded. The bar is 51 (or 52) inches long between the collars which means you can use it with standard squat racks and cages, a big plus. The knurling is excellent, deep enough for a good grip but not so deep as to shred your palms. The 30 mm diameter has not been a problem for me so far but I do only powerlifting type movements not Olympic ones, YMMV. The ends are of necessity a little on the short side so anyone wanting to go really heavy will have a problem getting enough plates loaded, but I'll worry about that if and when I get that strong. This is an excellent buy and Fitness Giant had it a little cheaper (shipping included) than other sites I looked at.
Pros
  • High quality for the money, can be used with standard racks and cages.
Cons
  • Not for going really heavy as the bar ends are a bit short.

My main reason for buying this bar was the 6 ft length that still fits in a standard power cage, due to the limited area I have. Very good quality knurls and finish. My only con is the bar's 30mm diameter.
Pros
  • Great for static lifts if space is a premium
Cons
  • The bar is too thick if you are interested in olympic movements for crossfit.
