The barbell is good quality. It's not a cheapo like you'll find at many gyms, and the cheapos that come with a lot of the bargain olympic sets you'll find at various outlets. The weights are great. The finish on them is very durable. I've been bumping them against each other for a while now, and they don't even blemish. Maybe after a few months...

I like the grips. It makes it so much easier to move the weights around, and the grip holes are a great location to run a chain through for weighted dips or weighted chins. Because there are only 3 grips, the holes are not directly across from each other, and I usually end up using one grip hole and just grabbing the opposite side with my other hand (not in a grip hole). I'd prefer symmetrical grip holes for easier handling, but these are great nonetheless.
Pros
  • Quality bar (500lb test, very solid) and durable coating on the weights. Grips are great.
Cons
  • Grips are not symmetrical and require some adapting to get used to.

I purchased these weights for my home gym and have been completely satisfied with them. I spent countless hours trying to decide on which company to go with but ultimately decided on Troy because of their commercial grade quality and design. My wife is very petite and the grip design allows her to pick up even the 45lb weights and load them on the bar. Simply put, you just can't go wrong with Troy.
Pros
  • - Commercial grade quality
  • - Grip design
  • - Interlocking ability
